Client Session Prep Guide
Thoughtful preparation helps create relaxed, confident sessions and timeless images. This guide outlines simple steps to help you look and feel your best on camera.
Hair & Grooming
- Schedule haircuts approximately 5–10 days before your session for a natural, settled look.
- Avoid major style changes right before your shoot.
- Keep facial hair consistent with your everyday appearance.
- Light smoothing products can help control flyaways and frizz.
Makeup, Nails & Spray Tans
- If using a spray tan, schedule it at least 3–4 days prior to avoid uneven tones.
- Natural, subtle color always photographs best.
- Matte makeup is preferred over shimmer for flattering light reflection.
- Avoid chipped nail polish — fresh, neutral tones photograph cleanly.
- Optional light teeth whitening in the days leading up to your session can make a noticeable difference.
Wardrobe Guidance
- Layering adds visual depth — cardigans and jackets are an easy way to elevate a look.
- Textures such as denim, knits, and linen photograph better than flat fabrics.
- Avoid logos, neon colors, and busy patterns.
- Shoes matter — clean, neutral footwear completes the look.
Accessories & Details
- Choose jewelry that is minimal and proportionate.
- Remove smart watches or fitness bands unless intentionally styled.
- Empty pockets before your session to avoid unwanted bulges.
Day-Of Session Tips
- Eat beforehand and stay hydrated.
- Arrive early and allow time to settle in.
- Trust the process — posing and guidance will be provided throughout the session.
